Rangers
By the time girls are old enough for Rangers their programme is all about taking the lead and finding new challenges.
As with Guides, girls who join Rangers create their own campaigns, learn and share new skills. They explore new places on camps and trips and enjoy exciting events like Tartan Gig – Girlguiding Scotland’s very own pop concert – and they can even get involved in organising and publicising these events, becoming stewards or journalists for a while.
Rangers take the lead in running their groups and planning their activities and they can also join the leadership teams of other units (offering our programme to younger girls) as Young Leaders or as Duke of Edinburgh’s Award volunteers. They can work on the rest of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award too.
Rangers are encouraged to push themselves further while still choosing from the wide range of badges, skills and activities covered by our six programme themes. They aim to have fun while building their skills, raising their voice and maybe even travelling the world! They can make a difference in their community, for example by becoming a peer educator or developing their advocacy skills, or by taking action on a local issue.
Rangers of any age can earn the Commonwealth award, and the Ranger Gold award, and girls aged 16+ can work on the Queen’s Guide Award, which is Girlguiding’s highest award, and there are lots of opportunities to add new experiences to a CV. All this while enjoying fun and friendship!
